Looking for a fresh start to the New Year I found this article about prayer taken from the experiences of George Mueller. I have been very impressed in the past by books on prayer written by R. A. Torrey, E. M. Bounds, and many other great prayer warriors. However, it seems many articles written about prayer in this postmodern generation is theoretical compositions put together without actual prayer experiences.

Some years ago the following article entitled "Struck Down To Be Saved" appeared in the Gospel Herald:
A telephone linesman gives his friend "Slim" credit for saving his life thus. "Sometimes new poles are green, and water soaked, and will conduct electricity," he explained. This economic downswing that has forced itself upon us is creating havoc with our emotions. Our positive attitude so prevalent in the past has been attacked by discouragement as we face the future.
On a personal note, I just wanted to take a moment to let you know that that God is going to help you through your present struggle. The Bible says in: John 16:33 - These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. There are times when all of us are confronted with difficulties and circumstances which are often beyond our control or ability to "fix". This is where our faith in God is tested, and if we continue to hold on to the promises of God, He is sure to bring us to the other side of the situation in victory.
